Karin Forseke appointed chair of Drottningholms Slottsteater

Karin Forseke, the well-known businesswoman, has taken one of the top positions at Drottningholms Slottsteater, and is now the new chairperson of the Drottningholms Slottsteater Foundation board.

“Drottningholm Court Theatre is one of Sweden’s finest and most important places of cultural heritage,” she says. “I shall do my best to contribute what I can and hope that my national and international background will be of benefit.”

Karin Forseke is a businesswoman and a professional board member with many years of experience. She took up office at Drottningholms Slottsteater on 1 November, replacing Annika Levin as chairperson. Karin Forseke is also chairperson of Föreningen Storasyster and of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Investment Committee.

Forseke is a former member of the board of the Royal Swedish Opera and Dansens Hus in Stockholm. She has also worked internationally, and was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Excellence Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elisabeth II for her contributions to the UK financial market.

Drottningholms Slottsteater has remained intact since 1766 and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. With its hand-operated stage machinery still in use, there is no theatre like it anywhere in the world. The theatre is a national institution and hosts performances, tours and public events steeped in the spirit of the 1700s.
