AkzoNobel has finalized the €153 million divestment of its global paper chemicals business to Kemira. The deal was first announced in July 2014. “This is another important step in our strategy to focus on leading positions in bleaching chemicals, colloidal silica and expandable microspheres,” says Niek Stapel, Managing Director Pulp and Performance Chemicals.

AkzoNobel today announced the intended sale of its global Paper Chemicals business to Kemira for €153 million. Paper Chemicals is part of the company’s Pulp and Performance Chemicals business and generated annual revenue of €243 million in 2013.

AkzoNobel’s new €80 million Imperatriz Chemical Island in Brazil is now operational and has started supplying the Suzano Maranhão Pulp Mill in northern Brazil. Operated by the company’s Pulp and Performance Chemicals business, the state-of-the-art Imperatriz facility represents AkzoNobel’s second major investment in the Brazilian Pulp Industry within a two years’ time frame.

Cirka 150 liter 99,9% teknisk etanol (alkohol) har stulits vid AkzoNobel i Bohus. Stölden upptäcktes 19 juni och en polisanmälan har gjorts. Etanolen förvarades i ett låst utrymme på det inhägnade fabriksområdet. Låset till dörren är uppbrutet. Företaget befarar att etanolen säljs vidare. Det är framförallt den höga koncentrationen som gör att produkten är skadlig. Företaget samarbetar med polisen
