Press Release   •  Sep 21, 2001 14:57 CEST

The outer structure of the new whey powder factory in Argentina has now been completed and the large assembly cranes removed. Work on flooring, painting, lighting and sanitation will continue until mid-December. 250 construction workers are currently working on the site.

The first two shipments of equipment from Denmark have arrived at the site and a third has just arrived in Buenos Aires. Once two further vessels from Denmark and three from New Zealand and Japan reach Buenos Aires delivery of all processing equipment will have been completed.

In August, 40 workers, including 4 Danes, from APV Pasilac began installing plant and equipment. The construction team is currently working on pipe bridges and the reception terminal. The evaporator has been installed in the building and the pre-assembly of the spray facility has just begun. The two ground basins for the purification plant are also making headway. All concrete tanks are assembled and are now ready for technical equipment to be installed.

This week, the Governor of Córdoba province, Jose Manuel De la Sota, visited the factory. He was shown around by Factory Director Finn Simonsen.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that the Governor was impressed with the building and, indeed, the whole project. He was also pleased to see that the building was on schedule. This is not always the case in Argentina, especially not now when the country is experiencing considerable economic problems.
