Press Release   •   Jul 06, 2001 11:15 CEST

Arla Foods is set to increase cheese exports to Canada.

In a deal with Kraft Foods, Arla Foods’ Canadian subsidiary has obtained a significant import quota for Canada to be taken up at the end of the year.

By agreement with Kraft Foods, details of the transaction will not be disclosed.

“The increased import quota will give Arla Foods’ Canadian business a significant boost,” says Regional Director Niels Ulrich Pedersen, Overseas Division.

Arla Foods exports around 1,700 tons speciality cheese per year to the Canadian market, largely danablu, creamy havarti and cream cheese. In addition, creamy havarti and feta are produced locally in partnership with the Canadian dairy company, ADL, Amalgamated Dairies Limited.
