Arla Foods Ingredients has commissioned a new Argentinian pilot plant aimed at enhancing services to Latin American customers for fermented products, ice cream and cheese.
One common feature for the products is that they contain functional milk proteins from Arla Foods Ingredients’ new factory, approx. 600 km north west of the capital, Buenos Aires.
“The purpose of the pilot plant is to present new products and samples to our customers and demonstrate the potential of our technologies, “said Peter Schwensen, Regional Sales Manager, Arla Foods Ingredients. “We’re not only selling our ingredients in the form of functional milk proteins but also know-how. In fact, we often act as a development department for our customers.”
The plant, which is sited at Arla Foods Ingredients’ headquarters in Buenos Aires, is currently undergoing final adjustments in order to bring it in line with Arla Foods Ingredients’ central pilot plant in Nr. Vium, Denmark.
Three engineers will be responsible for developing and testing the products. However, customers will also be able to use the plant for the development and testing of new products.
“We often see that customers find it difficult to carry out research at their own factories because daily operations do not leave enough time and space for trial production,” said Peter Schwensen.” Instead we offer our customers the opportunity to use our facilities. As Latin American businesses are unaccustomed to this, we have an advantage here. Many of our customers have expressed the wish to work with us in this respect.”
The pilot plant will begin operations during july.
