Although the festivities will not reach Danish proportions, many Australians will celebrate the first Australian to become a member of a ruling royal family when Miss Mary Donaldson marries Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik on Friday.
The biggest event is centred on Sidney’s Opera House which will transmit the wedding ceremony on Friday night (Australian time) on ten giant screens. Arla Foods has donated substantial amounts of food, including Danish Blue, Havarti and Emmental cheese, for the event which will be covered by Radio Denmark and Australia’s five nationwide TV channels.
264 guests and 36 journalists have registered for the party which will be hosted by the Danish consulate.
Of special interest to Arla Foods’ is the fact that the participants will include representatives from Australia’s two largest retail chains, Woolworth and Coles.
Last year, Arla Foods recorded a 30% rise in cheese exports, primarily Danish Blue and Havarti, to Australia.
