The 18 employees at Arla Foods' Disenå Dairy in Norway have been informed that its closure is being considered. The situation has arisen following the cancellation of licensed production with effect from the end of the year. Despite many efforts to find an alternative use for the dairy, no solution has so far materialised.
Acquired by the former Arla in 1998, Disenå Dairy has longstanding traditions for the production of mould cheese. The dairy began life as a producer of camembert at a dairy adjacent to Maarund Gaard, where production has continued until today.
