Arla Foods is one of the world’s most innovative companies.
This is the conclusion of a recent article in the magazine, Effektivitet (“Efficiency”) which caters for readers involved in the field of Product Development. The article was based on a questionnaire completed by a number of Arla Foods executives in accordance with the GIDIE method (European Guide To Industrial Innovation).
GIDIE is a computer programme developed by the European Commission for the purpose of measuring the ability of a business to develop new products and meet consumer requirements. The test was carried out by Denmark’s Institute of Technology in conjunction with GIDIE’s developers.
The result gives Arla Foods the high score of 82% in respect of its innovative skills. According to the test Arla Foods is a forward-looking organisation with a high degree of commitment to both project and innovation culture (i.e. visions, strategies and motivation). Arla Foods also prioritises personnel development and maintains “a very special relationship“ with its suppliers. The Danish products Kærgården with 25 % less fat and Harmonie Minimælk are two examples of Arla Foods’ skills in meeting consumer requirements.
“Much effort has been devoted to innovation over the past five years,” said Innovation Director Michael Stevns. “It’s very pleasing that outside experts recognise this. It proves that our efforts have been successful.”
