The fire-damaged Høng Dairy is now expected to resume supplies of long-life camembert in mid-March.
The fire at the dairy on New Year's Eve destroyed the dairy's ripening room, packing room and stores as well as its specially designed packaging machinery. Following a European-wide search, the necessary replacement machines have been acquired and temporarily installed at Englevaad Dairy.
Høng Dairy's own staff as well as personnel from the dairy's cleaning company are currently cleaning the dairy and all production equipment and production is expected to commence in mid-February. The cheese will then be moved to Englevaad Dairy where it will be stored in the ripening room and packed in cans and boxes. The first consignment of cheese should be ready in mid-March.
Long-life camembert from Høng Dairy is sold to markets as far as Japan and Canada.
