MDFI receives large orders from Taiwan

Press Release   •   Sep 06, 1999 12:00 CEST

During the past year, MDFI has established close ties with a new customer, Standard Foods in Taiwan which has an exclusive world licence to sell milk powder under the Quaker label. The agreement with Standard means that the products are produced and packed in so-called co-packing by MDFI in accordance with customer specifications and under the customer's own label. Following a cautious start involving selected standard brands, the joint operation received a boost in June this year when, as a consequence of the Belgian dioxin scandal, Standard Foods decided to transfer production of a further three products to MDFI. With delivery within 5 weeks.

"This was an all but impossible undertaking, particularly during the summer holiday season," says factory manager Mogens Jensen, MD Foods Ingredients.
"But we succeeded - not least due to the commitment shown by our suppliers and staff.
Subsequently, Standard Foods has decided to transfer all its production to MDFI. The Quaker products are highly specialised powder products and some of the varieties involved contain living cultures such as those known from Cultura. Due to the special production methods applied, however, the products have a shelf life of 2 years.
"The whole process illustrates the importance of Danish milk maintaining its very high veterinary status. This was a crucial element when Standard Foods chose MDFI as supplier," says Mogens Jensen.
