New dairy planned for Leeds

Press Release   •   Oct 10, 2002 15:57 CEST

Arla Foods’ Supervisory Board recently approved the construction of a new liquid milk dairy at Stourton outside Leeds in the UK.
At an estimated cost of GBP 50 million, the dairy will have an initial capacity of 250 million litres milk on a site adjacent to Arla Foods’ new distribution centre. Construction is expected to commence in February 2003 and the dairy is scheduled to open in October 2004, when it will replace the existing dairy in the centre of Leeds. The dairy’s workforce are expected to transfer to the new plant.

The plans for the new dairy allow for future expansion, e.g. in connection with further consolidation of the UK dairy industry.
