Press Release   •   Sep 15, 2000 16:39 CEST

The New Zealand Dairy Board, the New Zealand Dairies' Export Organisation, has taken a 51 per cent stake in Arla Foods' Brazilian partner, S. A Fabrica de Produtos Alimenticios Vigor for a sum of DKK 1.2 billion. The acquisition now awaits the approval of the Brazilian authorities.

For several years Arla Foods has operated a joint venture for cheese production at the DanVigor dairy and Divisional Director Finn Hansen, Overseas Division, expects no change in the current set-up.
With an annual turnover of DDK 2.2 billion S. A Fabrica de Produtos Alimenticios Vigor is Brazil's fifth largest dairy.
New Zealand Dairy Board, the world's largest exporter of dairy products, markets Anchor butter which is Lurpak's strongest rival in the UK market. The NZDB actively pursues a strategy of growth by acquisition.
