No risk of BSE in milk products

Press Release   •   Mar 02, 2000 09:13 CET

Although BSE, "mad cow disease," cannot be transmitted via milk, a number of MD Foods' importers in the Middle East and Far East have requested further documentation that MD's dairy products carry no risk of the disease following a case of BSE in a Danish herd.

In response, the Danish health authorities have circulated an information sheet to all Danish embassies citing the World Health Organisation's repeated claim that BSE cannot be transmitted via milk or milk products. Click here to see the information sheet.
In addition, the Danish health authorities have prepared a specific statement concerning milk and BSE which Danish exporters can forward to customers abroad. Click here to see the statement.
The cow affected by BSE in Denmark belongs to a herd which has supplied 800 kg of milk to MD Foods every other day. The milk from the herd has been used in normal production.
