Arla Foods has announced price rises averaging 2 % for the group's dairy products in Denmark.
The increase, however, varies from product to product. While the price of milk, yoghurt and butter will go up, organic products as well as cheese and cream will not be affected.
The increases should be seen against a backdrop of rising prices for all European dairy products. In addition, as prices for some Danish products have remained unchanged since 1996, subsequent cost increases have not been covered. This applies to milk in particular.
The price of organic products remains unaffected because Arla Foods currently receives three times more milk from its organic suppliers than it can sell.
The prices increases will take effect from September 18.
