Last Monday saw the last cartons of creme fraiche leaving Arla Foods’ fresh milk dairy in Halmstad on Sweden’s West coast.
Production of creme fraiche has been transferred to Őstg÷ta Dairy while the dairy’s production of yoghurt, milk and cream has been gradually transferred to Gothenburg Dairy over the past twelve months.
Currently a fresh products terminal, Halmstad will be converted into a distribution terminal next autumn. Around half of the 80 employees will remain at the plant.
The transfer of fresh milk production from Halmstad is part of Arla Foods’ structural plan.
