His Royal Highness, Prince Joachim of Denmark, the younger son of Queen Margrethe II, sampled Puck processed cheese and Arabian cream cheese when the prince visited Arla Foods’ dairy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, on Monday.

The visit was part of a Danish business promotion drive organised by Denmark’s Agricultural Council, Denmark’s Export Council and Dansk Industri.
Following a brief introduction to Arla Foods’ Middle-Eastern activities by Divisional Director Finn S. Hansen, Prince Joachim and the delegation were given a tour of the dairy.

”The Prince was well prepared and showed a great deal of interest and insight,” reports Assistant Product Manager Vagn Aage Jensen, who showed the royal guest around the dairy which has an annual production of 6,000 tons processed/cream cheese, shredded cheese and 30,000 tons fruit juice and milk drinks. During the tour the Prince tasted some of Arla Foods’ products for the Saudi market, including Puck processed cheese from Bislev Dairy and the Arabian cheese, Labneh, which is made at the dairy in Riyadh.

”The Prince enjoyed the cheeses and found it interesting to taste some, which he, of course, had never tried before,” added Vagn Aage Jensen.
The official part of the tour ended on Thursday in the United Arab Emirates.
