Agri-sector to feature strongly at Cool Logistics Americas conference

Press release   •   Apr 16, 2014 10:51 CEST

London and Sao Paulo, 14.04.2014 – Luis Carvalho de Andrade, General Manager Transport and Operations at JBS, the world’s largest protein producer, will address the first Cool Logistics Americas conference on 14-15 May in São Paulo, Brazil.

The agricultural sector generates 22.4% of GDP in Brazil and 37% of exports, according to CNA, the Brazilian Confederation for Agriculture and Livestock, the latest prestigious trade association to lend its support to this event.

“With speakers from JBS, brf, Agrícola Famosa, Pomagri and ABPA, plus support and attendance from major trade associations such as CNA, the cream of the Brazilian perishables sector will be represented at Cool Logistics Americas. This reflects the interest that perishable logistics is currently attracting in this country and more widely across Latin America,” said Alex von Stempel, Joint Managing Director of Cool Logistics Resources and Martin von Simson, Managing Partner of Update Comunicação in a joint statement.

Luis Carvalho will be joined by Alan Fuchs, President of Brado Logistica, heralding Brazil’s first rail-based refrigerated transport operation involving large scale protein shipments. Meanwhile, fruit shippers in the North East of Brazil will now be able to benefit from deeper draft at Tecon Salvador, as Commercial Manager Patricia Iglesias will stress. Critically, Salvador is also the natural gateway for Brazil’s budding banana export business provided inland transport issues are resolved, as revealed at the Cool Logistics Conference in Antwerp two years ago by Jorge de Souza of Abanorte.

Held under the theme “Maximizing Latin America’s Perishables Potential,” Cool Logistics Americas 2014 takes place 14-15 May at the BlueTree Premium Hotel in Faria Lima, São Paulo.
