Today we sat down with our Business Development Manager Chris Bethwaite to learn more about him.
1) What do you do as a Business Development Manager? What are your main tasks?
I am in charge of the UK market. I travel a lot all over the country for meetings with potential clients. My job consists of maintaining relationships with our existing clients, and generating leads for potential new ones where we can maximise our company expertise. These leads can be generated through a number of methods: market research, LinkedIn, emails campaigns, phone calls and word of mouth. Once the business relationship starts, I am the contact person for all my clients, handling any inquiry they might have and managing the orders, always trying to make the process as smooth as possible.
2) You have joined the Swedbrand team 6 months ago. How has it been for you so far? What do you enjoy most about your job?
Even though it is always somewhat challenging to join a new company with its own culture and processes, I immediately felt welcome at Swedbrand and the whole team made my transition as smooth as possible. I love working at Swedbrand. It’s like a big family!
What I enjoy most about my job is when I finally see the successful outcome of one of my projects and I know that I have helped create additional value for the partner. It is just wonderful and so fulfilling!
3) What made you choose Swedbrand among other companies?
I chose Swedbrand because I thought it could represent a great challenge for me, I wanted to try something new and Swedbrand represented exactly what I was looking for: a relatively young and fresh company with the opportunity for international travel. Being located in London has given Swedbrand and myself the ability to react quickly to client needs. Having them on the doorstep is a big help when it comes to building and maintaining relationships.
I was also planning to move back to London, so when I saw the job advertisement I couldn’t help but apply.
4) We know that you have 4 siblings. What is it like growing up in such a big family?
Well, it’s a lot of fun! I have three brothers and a sister, we are very close and I see them pretty often. We don’t live too far away from each other so when we have some free time either they come visit me or I go back home for a couple of days.
5) How is life in London? What do you like most about the city?
I love London. It’s such a great city! Here you can meet people from all over the world. Actually it’s very rare to find a real Londoner in London, you’re constantly surrounded by people speaking different languages! And the food is simply amazing!
6) Which are your main hobbies? What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I used to go to the gym and I’m planning to start again soon. It’s good for both your body and your brain. It helps me disconnect from all the stress accumulated during the day. I also play golf on a regular basis; it’s a family tradition.
7) Have you ever lived abroad? If you could live anywhere in the world, which destination would you pick?
I have always lived in the UK so I really don’t know how it would be to live abroad, but I guess I could only live either in the States or in Australia. I am not the most adventurous person so I don’t think Asia could be suited for me. I’ve never been there before but from what I’ve heard it’s too different from what I’m used to, although my mind could be changed with the right opportunity.
