Fireside chat: The Role of QoE for OTT Success

Blog post   •   Sep 21, 2016 09:37 UTC

TV has been transformed by the Internet. As more content is delivered online, the line between linear television, video on demand (VOD) and over the top content (OTT) continues to blur. For viewers, it’s a win-win situation as they can increasingly watch the content they love on their own terms – on the screen of their choice. But that's not all (of course) - viewers demand high quality of content & experience. Technical difficulties are not easily forgotten nor forgiven.

For OTT providers wanting to compete and win the hearts (and money) of the viewers – they need to get it right the first time – in this day and age, viewers won’t hang around for apologies. Failing to plan for viewer experience management is as good as planning to fail. Quality of experience should be considered equally important as quality of content.

Fireside chat featuring Verizon & Parks Associates

We’re pleased to introduce a fireside chat on "The Role of QoE for OTT Success" featuring Verizon Digital Media Services' EMEA Managing Director Tamara McMillen and Parks Associates Senior Director of Research Brett Sappington. Join this dynamic duo for a lively discussion on everything you need to know about OTT, including:

  • Successfully obtaining QoE
  • Achieving simplicity in the workflow
  • How to effectively monetize and scale
  • The proliferation of the OTT industry

Online video viewers expect TV-like quality with their content every time they watch, no matter the screen, and internet content distributors can boost viewership simply by focusing on video quality. That’s according to a consumer survey from Verizon Digital Media Services (VDMS), earlier this year. At the Fireside chat at Nordic Media Summit, Tamara and Brett will look deeper at key findings from the Video Streaming Quality report by VDMS.
