Diamonds of a Rare Quality

If you are dreaming of coloured diamonds, an irresistible solitaire ring or signed jewellery from some of the world's greatest jewellers, you should check out our upcoming Christmas auction.

“At this auction you have the opportunity to have most of your wishes fulfilled! One of the absolute highlights is an extremely rare diamond jewellery set mounted in platinum and consisting of a necklace with matching earrings that are embellished with unique natural pink, light blue and white diamonds. The coloured diamonds in this set are distinguished by being very rare, since theirattractive pastel colours have emerged quite naturally. With an estimate of DKK 1-1.2 million (€ 135,000-160,000), the jewellery set is the most expensive we have ever offered”, says Julie Gram, Head of the Jewellery Department at Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers.

In the same high quality we can offer a stunning solitaire ring with an old European-cut diamond weighing a total of 9.29 ct., which was mounted by the Danish jeweller Jan Stockmarr. It is unusual to see a diamond of this size on the auction market in Denmark, so here is a unique opportunity to acquire an extremely exclusive ring with a fantastic brilliant glow. The Solitaire ring is valued at DKK 500,000-600,000 (€ 67,000-80,000).

Signed jewellery

From some of the most renowned jewellers around the world, including Boucheron, Chopard, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels we can offer a range of timeless jewellery in high quality craftsmanship and a design that never goes out of fashion. Among the highlights is Chopard's elegant Casmir-necklace with 462 brilliant-cut diamonds from the 1990s, which is estimated at DKK 250,000 (€ 33,500). If you are interested in decorative brooches with some personality and charm, then the little lion "Lion Ébouriffe" with emeralds and diamonds from Van Cleef & Arpels or Boucheron’s diamond feathers, might be something for you. If you are dreaming of a classic emerald and diamond ring, you should go for the ring from Boucheron estimated at a price between DKK 35,000 to 40,000 (€ 4,700-5,400).

Art Deco Jewellery from the 1920s and 30s

Many of our customers are interested in the historic Art Deco jewellery, and for good reason. The timeless geometrical designs go with most outfits, and they speak to fashion-conscious women who enjoy mixing new designs with historic vintage jewellery. At the upcoming auction we can present a varied selection consisting of both broad and slim diamond bracelets, diamond brooches and jade jewellery. Among the highlights is a broad Art Deco diamond bracelet valued at DKK 250,000 (€ 33,500).

Art Deco was a style within jewellery, decorative art and architecture between 1910 and 1940. It culminated in Europe with the large decorative art exhibition in Paris in 1925, Exposition Internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes. The style is characterized by cubist and geometric shapes, but it is also inspired by decorative elements from Egypt, India and the Far East, which is clearly expressed in the auction’s fine selection of Art Deco jewellery.

Wristwatches for the Gentlemen and the Ladies

At the Christmas auction, there is ample opportunity to treat both the gentlemen and the ladies with something from the section with wristwatches. We can present many of the most well known brands, including Patek Philippe, Breitling, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Urban Jürgensen, Rolex and Omega.

From the latter two brands we offer an Omega Speedmaster Ultraman and a Rolex Sea-Dweller "Double Red". An Omega Speedmaster is not just an Omega Speedmaster, when it has an orangesecond hand. If this is the case, the watch in question is an Omega Speedmaster Ultraman, which is not only a spectacular watch, but also very rare. It was only produced for a few years and is named after a Japanese TV-show that ran during the 1960s.

The Rolex Sea-Dweller in red, hence the nickname “Double Red”, is one of the most sought after vintage Rolex watches. This particular example from 1967 is in exceptionally good condition and has just been serviced. Moreover, it is the first time it is offered at auction and comes from the descendants of the original owner.

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers is one of Scandinavia’s leading international auction houses, and one of Denmark’s oldest. It all started on 6 October 1948, when Arne Bruun Rasmussen conducted the first traditional auction in the saleroom at Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen. Today, Jesper Bruun Rasmussen stands at the helm of the family-run business together with the third generation of the family, his son Frederik and daughter Alexa, and the company’s CEO Jakob Dupont.

In 2004, the first online auction was launched, and today the auction house has expanded to include departments in Copenhagen and Aarhus and representations in Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, Italy, Thailand and the US. About 100,000 lots are auctioned off each year at the traditional auctions and daily online auctions. Here you can bid on everything from art, antiques, modern design and jewellery to books, coins, stamps, wine and weaponry.

Bruun Rasmussen – Part of the Bonhams Network

"Going once, going twice. Sold to the lady in the front row". For more than 75 years, the auction house Bruun Rasmussen has sold art, antiques, design, jewellery, wristwatches and collector’s items such as wine, books, coins and stamps. After having been family-owned through three generations, we were bought in 2022 by the English auction house Bonhams, which was founded in England in 1793 and is today one of the world's leading auction houses. We are now part of an international network with a global reach, and we present and sell art where it makes the most sense in relation to potential buyers. This also means that through the network we offer more than 60 categories of items at our auctions.

Art and credibility are at the heart of everything we do. The work in the auction house places great demands on our knowledge of art and trends on the market. Our specialists are the most experienced and competent in the industry, and in the Bonhams Network we share knowledge and communicate across national borders with a large number of international specialists. This way, we can provide the best valuation and advice that have become our trademark – and thereby offer the best lots from all categories and achieve the highest hammer prices for the benefit of our customers.

Tradition and innovation go hand in hand. At Bruun Rasmussen, we are one of Europe's most modern and digital auction houses, and it is only natural for us to adapt to changes in the market. Innovation is part of our DNA, while we are also deeply rooted in our history. The foundation of the company rests on our two types of auctions – Online Auction and Live Auction. Every week we put more than a thousand lots up for auction at bruun-rasmussen.dk, and several times a year we present exclusive lots live in our saleroom. We are proud to sell art and design in virtually every category and price range to and for people all over the world who are driven by the same passion as we are.

We want to be a living centre of culture, and since the autumn of 2023, we have been located in Lyngby north of Copenhagen in a new, modern domicile. Here you can not only explore among all the art objects on display and bid on the exciting auctions, you can also meet our specialists, get an estimate on your own items, consign them for auction, listen to exciting lectures and participate in cultural events. We also have branches in Aarhus and Glostrup and regularly go on valuation trips around Denmark and abroad. Our goal is to always be available and for everyone to have a good experience in our auction house.

Welcome to Bruun Rasmussen – we can help you make a good purchase or achieve a great sale!
