Expecting Mom's are able to do Yoga and Pilates right to delivery, helping them feel great during pregnancy and enjoy a healthy recovery from childbirth.

If you are not pregnant, but planning on it, starting Yoga or Pilates in preparation is beneficial. Getting your body strong prior to pregnancy and orienting your body to the movements will make the pregnancy even easier.

If however you wish to start in your first trimester, ensure you have approval from your physician prior to beginning an exercise program.
Benefits of Yoga and Pilates for a healthy pregnancy are many, but here are a few:

1. Oxygen to you and your baby - yoga and Pilates both use breathing as part of the principles. Practicing deep breathing will provide an abundant supply of oxygen and a better life force for you and your baby.

2. Movement with intentional breath work, gives an optimum supply of blood-nutrients to the developing fetus.

3. Building core strength - strong abdominals, back and pelvic floor support a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery.

4. Hormone changes increase the laxity in your joints. Your teacher will support you in modifying stretches and mobility exercises to ensure you don't overstretch.

As you progress through your pregnancy, modifications to exercises are available to you ensuring a positive movement experience.

Pregnancy is a beautiful time to tune inwards and connect with your body, breath and baby.
