Idendego Inc. CEO, Alena Marie Pastuch, Speaks on the Importance of Password Selection

Press Release   •   Jan 25, 2010 09:22 EST

Regina, SK - Alena Pastuch, CEO of Idendego Inc., a developer and marketer of advanced personal and business online protection software programs, educates on the importance of choosing a suitable password for sensitive material. Passwords are the primary defense and front-line security for your personal data. If someone obtains your password, then they have complete access to your account and all of its data. If you give your password to anyone, you are giving them significant power while keeping all the responsibility for their wielding it. There are always better and safer ways of doing anything legitimate than giving away your password. Do not let anyone know your password(s). Giving someone else your password -- including trusted friends, is like giving them a signed blank check, or your charge card.

"No password is uncrackable. The best you can do is make it difficult and non-trivial to determine your password. What's the worst password? The one you've forgotten", says Alena Pastuch. "Whatever method you choose, it is a good idea to change your password often. The more important the password, the more often it should be changed. If someone is attempting a brute-force attack on your password, the hope is that you're changing it to something they've already tried and found to be wrong".

Idendego Inc. offers these suggestions when choosing a password:

Make your password something you can remember.
Make your password difficult for others to guess.
Use both upper and lower case letters.
Use numbers and special symbols (!@#$) with letters.
Use two or more words together (Yet_Another_Example).
Use misspelled words (WhutdooUmeenIkan'tSpel?).
Use a minimum of eight characters.
