abakus BYes solar UK Limited signs 10.1 MWp project in the UK as EPC and O&M provider

abakus solar AG and Bouygues Energies & Services have created a Joint Venture (JV) to provide turnkey EPC and O&M services for large scale photovoltaic projects in the UK.

The first project located in Dorset will be delivered under the new JV structure for Low Carbon, the financial investor. The project has a capacity of 10.1 MWp and construction has started in July 2014 with energisation of the project in Autumn 2014.

The project is designed to use central inverters and poly-crystalline modules and will be connected to a 33kV line.

Based on 20 years experience abakus solar is responsible for the engineering and the design of solar power plants and is also leading on the qualification processes of the main photovoltaic components and commissioning of the plant. abakus has previously installed 23 MWp in the UK and is well known for the outstanding quality and performance of its power plants in the UK solar market.

Bouygues Energies & Services is part of the French Bouygues Construction Group, a multinational company with an annual turnover of €11.1 billion. The company will be responsible for all civil and electrical construction works of the solar park. It is also a licensed Independent Connections Provider in the UK and will deliver the grid connection work.

“The cooperation with Bouygues Energies & Services is an excellent opportunity for abakus to combine our outstanding long term expertise in photovoltaic matters with the execution power of a strong local UK construction enterprise” says Roland Wigger, CEO of abakus solar AG.

“We are delighted to work with abakus and value their engineering expertise” says Edward Peeke, Managing Director of Bouygues E&S Infrastructure UK Limited. “We are also happy that we now are able to implement solar projects in the UK, building on the success the Group has had in delivering large scale schemes elsewhere in the world.”
