Record breaking attendance numbers for ICCM 20 in Copenhagen

More than 1800 researchers and scientists in the field of composite materials gather in Copenhagen, Denmark for the 20th International Conference on Composite Materials (ICCM20) under the title: ”Sustainable Composite Solutions to Global Challenges” .

When 1800 scientists and researchers representing 55 countries come to Denmark between July 19th and 24th, 2015 they will experience an innovative and updated version of the ICCM congress.

The congress is hosted by Aalborg University and the Danish Technical University in collaboration, while the Organizing and Scientific Committee has members from the Universities in Denmark, Norway and Sweden as well as the Danish Plastics Federation. The host committee is led by Professor Ole Thybo Thomsen who says: “We have worked hard to make the ICCM20 the best ICCM ever. Having a record breaking number of abstracts and delegates reflects our ambitions and a scientific program second to none. We have lined up a congress which will surprise and engage the participants”.

Under the title of ”Sustainable Composite Solutions to Global Challenges” the objective of the congress is to exchange and share knowledge, build network and strengthen the collaboration between universities and the industry.

The extensive program which is based on the 2000 abstracts submitted by the participants as well as invited keynote speakers will be presented in different formats. 22 parallel technical sessions covering the vast span of aspects of composite materials is complemented by mini-oral presentations which supports the standard poster exhibition. During the mini-oral session, more than 200 speakers will compete from 5 stages in the same room for the attention of the delegates, who will listen to the presentations from a head set, which transmits the sound on 5 different channels.

The interaction with the industry is strengthened by integrating the industrial exhibition with an open Centre Stage, on which parts of the program will take place. These sessions will encourage the delegates to participate in panel discussions and debates.

The delegates will get a taste of Copenhagen and Danish hospitality when they visit Tivoli Gardens for the Welcome Reception on Monday July 20th, and the theme of the Congress Dinner will be Scandinavian Midsummer which includes Nordic cuisine for the taste buds and a modern interpretation of the Nordic folk music.

The ICCM20 has partnered up with MCI Copenhagen, who as a consultant and provider of logistical services has managed the planning and production of the entire congress.

ICCM20 congress venue is Bella Center, Copenhagen.
