The sweet Christmas time is on our doorstep, and we are slowly beginning to dress up our homes with seasonal decorations. This year, the Danish artist Leise Dich Abrahamsen created our Christmas collection from a yearning for simplicity
As we hide away safe inside from the winter's cold, Leise Dich Abrahamsen invites one of her favourite corners of nature inside. To create a feeling of simplicity, she chose the birds and the trees as icons of nature. They are concentrations of her favourite things outside. Spontaneously, she has often and gladly worked with birds in her art and it was only natural to do it again in the Winterland series.
Wood and glitter
Nature is symbolised by the set of birds and the trees, but also in the organic materials of which the Winterland series was made: Wood and brass. To Leise Dich Abrahamsen, it is an expression of natural simplicity with a little twinkle:
"I love working with wood. I find it fascinating with the many different wood species. However, I too find myself drawn to all that glitters, which is why the brass was so wonderful because it is glittering in that certain dusty way," says Leise Dich Abrahamsen.
The Winterland series is created with a simplistic design and calm surfaces, but can easily be mixed and matched with your traditional and bright-coloured Christmas decorations. Take whatever you have at home already, stir it up with a bit of imagination and create your special winter wonderland this Christmas.
