About Nordic Startup Awards & Global Startup Awards
The aim with Nordic Startup Awards is to inspire, encourage and recognize entrepreneurship in the Nordic region. It happens not only by honouring the most successful startups, but by focusing on the entire environment - from the investors and journalists to the founders and developers.
Nordic Startup Awards honours the most successful startups from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland for the third time. The first time was in 2012. At the grand finale show the winning startups from each country will compete in 14 categories.
Until February, the public could nominate their favorites. From receiving 700 nominations in 2015, Nordic Startup Awards has experienced great interest and received 737 nominations this year.
Among the sponsors are Microsoft, Amazon, United Nations Development Program, the Danish startup organization CPHFTW, and the Icelandic Ministry for Innovation and Industry.
An award show like none before, Nordic Startup Awards is a series of events in the Nordic countries with the mission to celebrate and unite the Nordic startup eco-systems. All the events lead up to the grand finale where the startup kings and queens of the entire Nordic region will be revealed.
The main purpose behind the event is to consolidate the Nordic startup scene and place Scandinavian startup ecosystem on the map as a leading center for innovation in Europe. We all know we do things differently here. This is an opportunity to show the rest of the world how vibrant our community is and how successful the Scandinavian startup genome is.
