Air Greenland´s Canada link off to a good start

On June 15th Air Greenland inaugurated a new route between Nuuk and Iqaluit. The route got off to a good start, and in June volumes were up with 37.5 % compared to what the airline had planned for. The target segments for the route are stakeholders in the oiling- and mining industry, but for various reasons activities within this industry have not been up to the previous years numbers. But the route has spiked interest with other travellers, and there seems to be a positive demand in Iqaluit for travel to Greenland. Air Greenland´s Chief Commercial Officer, Christian Keldsen, explains that the route is mainly used by North American travellers.

The route enables travellers to get from Nuuk to e.g. Ottawa in less than 7 hours. If you leave Nuuk at noon you can be in Ottawa before 5pm. From Ottawa travellers can connect to destinations all over Canada. As an example you can get from Nuuk to Vancouver in Western Canada in one day. Air Greenland has partnered with Canadian carrier First Air for the flights from Iqaluit to Ottawa and Montreal.
