Burning Issues of our Time: Part I

Controversies and Conspiracies in Turkey - from the
Armenian Genocide to the 'Kurdish Question.'

Almost a century after the Armenian genocide and 90 years after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, interrelated events and issues such as the destruction of the Armenians and the treatment of the Turkish Kurds refuse to become history in Turkey and beyond. To address why the Armenian and Kurdish Questions remain surrounded by controversy and conspiracy theories we have invited two international scholars for an evening seminar at Danish Institute for Study Abroad, Vestergade 23, Copenhagen, Room 201, Monday 25 February, 1800-2030.

Richard G. Hovannisian, Professor of Armenian and Near Eastern History, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA: "Patterns of denial of the Armenian genocide"

Welat Zeydanlioglu, managing editor of the journal Kurdish Studies, Sweden: "Representations of the Kurdish Question from Dersim to Paris".

The seminar will be open to the public, but there is limited seating
