YouNoodle: Top student-founded startups pitch in virtual ‘shark tank’ with Tim Draper

Seven startups, three minutes and one pitch to Tim Draper for his feedback and global exposure.

At the latest installment of our YouNoodle Live pitch-off series, we partnered with Draper University and their Founder, VC and well-known advocate for entrepreneurs, Tim Draper. The event, which was co-hosted by Tim and YouNoodle’s Co-Founder and CEO, Torsten Kolind, gave seven of the most promising student-founded startups the opportunity to pitch their innovations for a live virtual audience and Tim’s feedback.

Startups experienced the true reality of the ‘shark tank’. Tim did not hold back, providing constructive feedback to all startups, from the need for further market research to outlining the competitive point of difference.

As always, YouNoodle Live proved the diversity of startups coming through YouNoodle-driven competitions with participating startups hailing from Pakistan, Chile, US, Canada, Nigeria and Denmark.

Didn’t manage to see it all go down? Here is the complete list of startups that pitched at this exclusive event:

  • Ponix, USA – A highly effective and efficient hydroponic food production platform that overcomes the limitations and hazards of existing agricultural methods by allowing users to grow food anywhere, in any climate, at anytime.
  • PrintToPeer, Canada – PrintToPeer embeds and bundles Raspberry Pi print servers in the next generation of 3D printers and connects them to the web. Users are able to fax physical objects, monitor supply levels, and 3D print from any app or game.
  • Capture Mobility, Pakistan – Looking to address the world energy and pollution crisis, Capture Mobility positions hybrid windmills on highways to harvest traffic turbulence and solar energy to in turn, generate green and clean energy 24/7.
  • DisoverCity, Denmark – An interactive and personal place for young people and students to find information and unexplored spots in their city.
  • Heroes, Chile – A mobile app to crowd source assistance, from needing an iPhone charger to more significant requests like needing an inhaler.
  • CrashDwell, USA – A subleasing platform where students can sublet their housing during the summer to fellow students traveling to NYC for short-term internships.
  • Kadosh, Nigeria – An innovative technology process for producing highly nutritious low-cost animal feed from cassava peels. The feed is then sold to livestock farmers at a lower cost than traditional feed while helping to reduce pollution.

The YouNoodle Live series showcases startups that belong to YouNoodle 1K – a network of the top performing startups on YouNoodle to ensure pitches are not only inspiring, but of the highest quality.
