CLICK Festival launches line-up for 2017

New concert formats, progressive genres, experimental performances and a record-breaking number of in-house productions will feature in the line-up at this year’s CLICK Festival. There will also be a stimulating programme of talks and workshops. This year the festival invites our guests to explore and participate in the theme Quirky Ecologies. A theme that both addresses our deep biological connection with nature, but also emphasizes the quirks - the new understandings and ways of reading the term ‘ecology’ today.

Theme: Quirky Ecologies – What is An ‘Ecosystem’?

The 7th edition of Elsinore´s CLICK festival will investigate ecologies and our place in them, seen in light of new emerging philosophies and trans-disciplinary art practices: the theme Quicky Ecologies challenges popular conceptions of nature, ecology, technology, media networks and environments. This becomes the starting point, when we together consider the meanings of these concepts and how we are connected to them and how they can be explored through the many practices and formats of CLICK festival. Through a vast mesh of different media, art installations, performances, concerts, talks, panels and interactive workshops that are unafraid to speculate, we invite all the attendees of this year’s festival to think quirky.

This year’s keynotes feature such figures as the British philosopher and author, Timothy Morton, who has been a pioneer in the debate on how to understand and discuss ecologies, climate and nature.

Concerts – from urban and electronic to post-punk and noise

This year the programme includes a huge range of concerts: from Mykki Blanco (US) and Yves Tumor (US) to legends of the post-punk and post-industrial scene, including This Is Not This Heat (UK) and two iconic musicians with a ton of music history on their conscience – Martin Rev (from the legendary group, Suicide) and Craig Leon (producer of Talking Heads, Blondie and the Ramones). Festival guests can also look forward to Danish/International concert collaborations: for example, Puce Mary (DK), who for the occasion will team up with Scotsman, Drew McDowall (familiar from the band, Coil).

So the concert line-up will feature: This Is Not This Heat (UK), Yves Tumor (US), Anna Zaradny (PL), Cakes Da Killa (US), Anastacia Kristensen (DK), The DJ Producer (UK), SUK / Respiration (DK), Mark N (AU), Historical Repeater (UK/DK), Etant Donnes (FR), Mykki Blanco (US), Martin Rev (US) & Craig Leon (UK), Holly Herndon (US), Puce Mary (DK) & Drew Mcdowall (UK), The Mover (DE) etc.

Performances – new technologies and performance styles

The boundaries between human and non-human, hologram and human, physical and digital will all merge into one single entity, when Carl Emil Carlsen and Bjørn Svin complete there concert performance, Silicium. New collaborations developed specifically for CLICK Festival and international productions will also lend a fascinating dimension to the Festival’s theme. These will include HeHe Collective’s (FR) installation, Radiant Tree, which will confront the audience with its impact on the world. In the performance, Skotopoiesis, Špela Petrič from Slovenia will explore the played-down communication between humans and plants. Audiences can also look forward to a grotesque, yet colourful encounter, when the Chinese artist, Tianzhuo Chen meets Aïsha Devi from Switzerland in an absurd theatre performance. It touches on both religious and pop culture, and applies elements of dance, ritual symbols, magic and androgynous, gender-bending characters to create a kind of extreme picture of the small elements that play such a key role in our identity and activities on the Internet and in the world.

The performance line-up includes: Stallgevitter (DE), Flesh Backwith Etant Donnes (FR), Anthropia by Traverse (DK), Ouroboros with Ali Hossaini (US) and Keir Wine (US), Psaoarhtelle with Manon Anne Gillis (FR), Silicium byBjørn Svin (DK) and Carl Emil Carlsen (DK), Aisha Devi (CH) & Tianzchou Chen (CI) etc.
