Diplo and Beck confirmed for NorthSide

Thundercat, Rhye, and Jimmy Eat World will also appear at next year's festival

This year’s last round of announcements for NorthSide 2018 will significantly expand the festival’s musical spectrum and offer everything from baile funk and sophisticated electronica to fusion jazz and postmodern disco-funk.

Over the last three years, Diplo has been unavoidable because of global megahits like “Lean On”, "Where Are Ü Now", and “Cold Water”. He has found chart success as a producer for M.I.A., Sia, and Beyoncé, as a member of Major Lazer and Jack Ü and as solo artist, and he is always highly ranked on DJ Mag's list of the world’s best dj’s. The productive producer’s unique take on baile funk has made its mark on charts throughout the world since the breakthrough with "Paper Planes", and as he himself put it a few years ago; Random White Dude Be Everywhere. This summer that will for the first time also include NorthSide.

Earlier this year, the always unpredictable Beck released the album "Colors", which picked up the thread from the dance-friendly and fun album from 1999, “Midnite Vultures”. Through a long and ever changing career, he has sold millions of records, won Grammys, and impressed with masterpieces such as "Odelay" and most recently the understated "Morning Phase". But the acoustic guitar has taken the backseat on new songs like "Dreams" and "Wow" and the focus is now instead on getting people back on the dance floor. When Beck lasted visited NorthSide the reviewers praised the musical shapeshifter and his ability to create a party. It was undoubtedly one of the best shows at the festival, so when the opportunity to have the phenomenal musician return to Aarhus arose the decision was easy.

The American bassist Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner has had one of the most eclectic careers you can imagine over the last twenty years. He started in a boy band, but already at the age of 18 he joined the punk band Suicidal Tendencies. He has collaborated with Erykah Badu and Flying Lotus, and he is featured as both a musician and producer on the three latest releases by Kendrick Lamar. Most recently, he has released the solo album "Drunk" featuring Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Pharrell, Kenny Loggins, and Michael McDonald on the guest list, and the result is an impressive mix of melodious rap funk and fusion jazz, almost like a modern version of Frank Zappa meets Funkadelic.
Thundercat will play Thursday June 7th on NorthSide 2018

The duo Rhye released the songs "Open" and "The Fall" in all anonymity in 2012, and the speculation about the beautiful melodies and the androgenic vocals got the Internet buzzing with enthusiasm. At concerts Rhye has always featured the singer Milosh solo in front of a band without his partner Hannibal, and when Rhye visited Copenhagen in the fall of 2016, they received high praise for Milosh's impressive falsetto vocal, which will surely captivate once more at NorthSide.
Rhye will play Saturday June 9th at NorthSide 2018

Since the breakthrough in 2001, the platinum-selling rock band Jimmy Eat World has delivered sharp and catchy songs like "The Middle" and "Sweetness". The former emo-band has developed their sound, so it has become significantly more extrovert than earlier and the show at NorthSide is sure to be an excellent introduction to the band and their hard-hitting catalogue.
Jimmy Eat World will play Friday June 8th at NorthSide 2018

That makes a total of eighteen acts ready for next year's festival, and the preliminary program for NorthSide 2018 is as follows: A Perfect Circle - Aurora - Beck - Björk - C.V. Jørgensen - Cigarettes After Sex - Deerhunter - Diplo - Dizzy Mizz Lizzy - Father John Misty - Jimmy Eat World - Nik & Jay - Queens of the Stone Age - Rhye - Sleaford Mods - The National - Thundercat - Tyler, The Creator

NorthSide afholdes i Eskelunden, Aarhus
