Heavy fixing in lightweight concrete, a piece of cake for new screw!

ESSVE Heavy Load lightweight concrete screw is intended for heavy fixing in porous rock materials such as lightweight concrete, Leca®, Siporex® and blue concrete. It is developed for the Scandinavian climate and has a unique design. With a final load value of an impressive 225 kg it takes a distinct pole position among the strongest fixings for lightweight concrete.

ESSVE introduced the lightweight concrete screw on the Scandinavian market in 2005. Suddenly there was no need to drill and plug in porous materials, which of course made life significantly easier. The idea was groundbreaking, and today it is copied and spread all over the world.

ESSVE Heavy Load is a development of the lightweight concrete screw. It has entirely different load values thanks to a new and unique thread, adjusted thread angle, a longer and coarser trunk as well as a newly designed screw head. In order to improve the product further ESSVE has added a screw track at the tip, which makes it easier to drive in. Of course it is anti-corrosion treated with Corrseal C4 for a long service life for outdoor use.

”Heavy Load will meet a clear customer need, not the least when it comes to façade facing and fixing where natural forces such as windload will influence the design values, or fixing of awnings, canopies, and additions”, says Jonas Svensson, category manager for fixings. This screw is also ideal for fixing beams for wooden decks in foundations of lightweight concrete/ cinder blocks.

”We guarantee a holding capacity of 225 kg in 3 MPa lightweight concrete, although we have measured significantly higher values,” says Sebastian Athler, technical expert and product developer at ESSVE. The only other fixing that can handle similar loads is a chemical anchor.

”Something that has been requested by carpenters is a screw head with a TX-track for more precise fixing of mounting brackets and angles. Our new screw head fits perfectly in the mounting bracket and prevents it from sliding, which used to be a problem”, says Jonas Svensson.

ESSVE Heavy Load will initially be available in two lengths: 185 mm and 210 mm.

Typical tasks for ESSVE Heavy Load:
• Fixing wooden- and sheet metal beams for façade facing on lightweight concrete walls/cinder blocks
• Fixing roof trusses on lightweight concrete/cinder block houses
• Fixing canopy on a wall
• Fixing awnings on lightweight concrete/cinderblock walls
• Anchoring additions onto lightweight concrete/cinder blocks
• Anchoring beams for wooden decks in house foundations of lightweight concrete/cinder blocks.
