EU Green Week and Award Ceremony

Brussels [2016-06-02]

Exeger has just delivered a presentation on its green business success story at the high level conference EU Green Week as part of a high level panel comprising of Jyrki Katainen, European Commission Vice-President, Karmenu Vella, Commissioner for Environment, Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, European Commission and Geneviève Pons-Deladrière, Director, WWF European Policy Office.

The presentation was very well received and great and valuable feedback was given from policy makers. The vice-commissioner Jyrki Katainen highlighted the high potential of EXEGER’s solar cell technology to receive EU funding, in particular EFSI (link).

“Let me put it this way, I wouldn’t be surprised if you were successful with the EFSI. I wish you all the best.” -Jyrki Katainen, European Commission Vice-President finished off the discussion on funding directing a hopeful message to Gustav Röken.

“I am very happy and honoured to have been a part of this impressive panel and to have received the best of LIFE environmental project award. As I mentioned in the presentation, we would not have made it this far this quickly without the support of the LIFE programme. We are looking forward to expanding even further with our plans of building a gigafactory, of course we hope to be able to have it situated in the EU.” –Gustav Röken, CFO of EXEGER reflecting on his days at the EU Green Week.

In 2014, EXEGER successfully demonstrated an annual production capacity of 20,000m2. This was the culmination of the DYEMOND SOLAR project funded by the EU-LIFE+ programme. It was deemed a high risk project from the start and the success of EXEGER in taking the company from an idea to a large scale factory, situated in the city center of Stockholm, has excited everyone involved from the EU commission.

To that end, Mr. Gustav Röken, CFO of EXEGER, was invited to take part in a high-level panel discussion to give an entrepreneurial take on the financing needs of European green companies. Mr. Röken highlighted the role the EU-LIFE+ programme plays in bridging the infamous valley of death and the importance of further funding for global roll-out and industrialization. Focus was also put on the competitive global climate where successful companies are constantly courted to expand in areas like Asia, USA, Middle East etc.

The day prior to the high-level panel discussion, EXEGER was awarded the “Best of LIFE environment project” prize for the successful completion of DYEMOND SOLAR. Every year thousands of companies apply for funding from the EU-LIFE program. Out of those companies only a few receive funding and of those only a small fraction actually succeed in the completion of their respective project. It is therefore a tremendous honor for EXEGER to receive this recognition and the opportunity to share our story at Green Week Brussels 2016 and help shape the discussion on EU funding of green startups, from idea to global roll-out.
