WHAT IS THIS

There are more Seed investments than Series A now than ever before. Q2 of this year was the biggest quarter in more than a decade of VC investing in the US. Geographically, Silicon Valley dominates the destination of angel funds, receiving 77% of the $8.1B funds invested in US-based companies throughout Q2 2012; 4 times as much as the total amount invested within New York, according to historical trend data(Source: Forbes article, Sarah Austin)

Silicon Valley is and has always been a dominant force, worldwide, in Angel investing – it’s the Wall Street of Angel Investing.

We would therefore like to invite relatively “new” Angel Investors from the Nordic/Baltic Region (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) to an Angel Investor Training conducted by highly experienced key Angel Investors in Silicon Valley. The Angel Investor Training is organized by Silicon Vikings in collaboration with US Market Access Center, and hosted by SNR Denton

The three-day training supports the Nordic/Baltic Regions Angel Investor community in achieving the following goals:

  • Expand availability of early-stage equity capital for SMEs in the Nordic/Baltic Region by training relatively “new” (one to three investments) investors in angel investing, utilizing the best practices from Silicon Valley.
  • Help angel investors develop a more informed, nuanced understanding of risk, and the role it plays in the investment process. Evolve traditional investor mindsets from risk-averse to risk-embracing.
  • Create and support a group of angel investors to syndicate capital, evaluate deals, invest in technology companies and mentor them towards growth and success.
  • Improve your return on investment by adopting a process for evaluating and monitoring potential opportunities.
  • Learn and become inspired by case studies of Silicon Valley’s greatest successes and failures.
  • Educate and influence the entrepreneurial ecosystem (universities, economic development professionals, incubator and accelerator coaches, innovation agencies and policy makers) to service and guide their constituents towards more successful investments.
  • Enhance the interaction that opens up future collaboration with other angel investors from the Nordic/Baltic Region, as well as angels and angel networks in Silicon Valley and around the world.
  • Learn the basics of helping your portfolio companies begin doing business in Silicon Valley and the US.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

We are inviting up to 8 Angel Investors from each country in the Nordic/Baltic Region (Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), totaling up to 64 investors.

  • Angel investors who have done from one to three deals.
  • Successful investors who have made money from investing in real estate or blue-chip corporations.
  • High net-worth individuals with senior business experience who now have the time and interest in investing in early stage technology companies.
  • Community leaders and entrepreneurial support professionals who are interested in promoting angel investing in their communities.
