Eaton Explores UPS Solutions for Energy Transition and Rising Energy Costs at DCD Frankfurt

Power management company Eaton has announced it will be taking an active role at next month’s Datacenter Dynamics Converged (DCD) conference and exhibition in Frankfurt. Alongside Staffan Reveman, independent consultant and renowned expert in power supply technology, renewable energy and sustainability, Eaton will be presenting a paper entitled “Energy Transition, Power Quality and Escalating Electricity Costs – Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Solutions.” Additionally, visitors to Eaton’s stand at the event will be able to find out about Eaton’s new modular 93PM UPS products, which combine exceptional energy efficiency with cost-effective scalability.

The presentation, which takes place in Hall 2 at 11:00 a.m., will be delivered by Janne Paananen, technology manager, Large Systems Group, Eaton, in conjunction with Staffan Reveman. Paananen and Reveman will address the significant changes in the electricity network that have an impact on power quality, such as the politically driven energy transition in Germany and renewable energy increasingly being fed into the network at variable points and times. These developments require innovative and advanced solutions to ensure a continuous level of power quality for critical applications such as data centres. The presenters will explore what this means and possible solutions, such as power proportional UPS systems with a high level of efficiency, even in the lowest load range.

The prime focus of the Eaton exhibition stand at DCD Frankfurt will be the company’s new 93PM modular UPS systems, which have been developed specifically to reduce CapEx in data centres by supporting a “pay-as-you-grow” approach, where users buy and install additional modules as their power requirements increase.

Eaton’s 93PM UPSs, which offer unmatched double-conversion efficiency of 97 percent, are available with ratings up to 200 kW. The inclusion of Eaton’s patented Hot Sync technology means that they can also be operated in parallel to provide power ratings up to 1.6 MW with no compromises to resilience or reliability.

Information will also be available on the stand about other products in Eaton’s data centre power solutions range, including ePDU power distribution products, which offer flexible options for bringing power to the server outlets; BladeUPSs, which are scalable backup power solutions optimised for use with high-density blade servers; and distribution equipment, including low voltage switchboards, medium voltage switchgear and ring main units, as well as Power Xpert busbar systems.

Throughout DCD Frankfurt, experts from Eaton will be on hand to provide those attending with advice and guidance on selecting solutions for specific applications, with the emphasis on combining energy efficiency with versatility, durability and value for money.
