Fifty Shades of Grey movie trailer boosts demand for sex toys in Scandinavia

When the long-awaited trailer for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie was released, it quickly went viral online. In little over a week, the trailer has reached about 20 million views and according to the online sex shop Sinful.fi, the trailer - like the books - have sparked peoples fantasies.

“We did expect more orders for Fifty Shades of Grey sex toys, when the trailer was released, but we were surprised to see that the demand in Finland has risen almost 88 % in just one week’, says Mathilde Mackowski, founder and co-owner of Sinful.

Although the increase in demand is remarkable in Sinful's Finnish web shop, the company's Swedish and Norwegian shops experienced an even higher increase in demand; almost 129% for Sweden and 100 % for Norway. In Sinful's Danish web shop, however, the demand has increased almost 40 %. 

One of the most remarkable things about the impressive increase in demand for Fifty Shades of Grey sex toys, is that customers have bought more products from the official pleasure collection at a time, since the trailer was released. 

Where many customers normally buy either a single or a few Fifty Shades products pr. order, many have bought 5-10 product in the last week. 

“It seems like the trailer has really sparked peoples imagination and their desire to experiment more. That’s great to see, as variation can be the key to a healthy sexlife and trying new things can help your relationship thrive”, says Mathilde Mackowski.

How long the demand will remain at this level only time will tell, but Sinful expects another boom around Valentines Day next year, when the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is released.
