Larox LPP-D Pump Solution for Cooling Towers

The PacifiCorp’s Jim Bridger Plant in the States utilizes four (4) cooling towers, and the water used in the process needs to be treated with Sodium Hypochlorite to prevent the growth of algae. There is one pump per cooling tower and even though the typical flow of Sodium Hypochlorite is only about 0,75 litres per minute, at times it needs to be ramped up to over 3,8 litre per minute. The plant previously had an old, shoe hose pump design installed. These pumps leaked the corrosive material at the connections and the hoses would only last them about 3 months. Larox pump was chosen because of the single roller design as well as the improved connections. Since the replacement Jim Bridger has not had any leakage and the hoses are lasting them 3 to 6 times longer. As a result of this improvement, they have purchased more Larox pumps for their acid and caustic applications.
