The WFP has field offices in Kakuma and Dadaab which have no power grid connection, and depends on generators to power the camp. The UN World Food Program (WFP) therefore wishes to establish a shortlist of suppliers for the supply, installation and commissioning for solar/hybrid generation power systems for these field offices. The advantage of solar and/or a hybrid system is a reduction in operating expenses, and reduce carbon emissions by 48% as compared to carbon emissions from continuous diesel generator operation.
