HNCs usually begin in the squamous cells that line the moist mucosal surfaces of the tissues and organs of the head and neck more than 80% of all HNCs are squamous cell carcinomas. HNCs are common in several regions across the globe and account for 600,000 new cases annually worldwide. GlobalData epidemiologists forecast an increase in diagnosed incident cases of HNCs in the 7MM from 151,393 diagnosed incident cases in 2014 to 174,056 diagnosed incident cases in 2024, with an Annual Growth Rate (AGR) of 1.50% during the forecast period. In 2024, the US will have the highest number of diagnosed incident cases of HNCs in the 7MM, with 65,663 diagnosed incident cases, whereas the UK will have the lowest number of diagnosed incident cases of HNCs, with 12,702 diagnosed incident cases in 2024. The diagnosed incident cases of thyroid cancer in the 7MM are expected to increase from 93,225 diagnosed incident cases in 2014 to 123,504 diagnosed incident cases in 2024, with an AGR of 3.25% during the forecast period.
