It is said that even the strongest of men are prone to the simple yet deadly trio of common cold, headaches and cough. And in terms of number of occurrences, common cold and headaches fight for the top slot but what makes cough dangerous is that most folks aren’t prepared for this throat havoc. Cough in actual is our body’s defensive reflex and this sudden and many a times repetitive reflex is to keep our airway clear for the purpose of proper breathing.
There is a small troubled sound and some mucus which come along with it. With pollution on the rise, there are many obstructions and irritations, courtesy microbes, secretions, irritants, foreign particles etc. which disturb the breathing process, hence cough is a natural method used to clear these obstructions, whenever they occur.

As during this phase, lungs would produce more and more sputum, this cough can worsen to become productive cough.
From cough drops to syrups, there are many medications available for dry cough but some of the most effective anti dry cough medicines are home based remedies. And these remedies work for people of all age groups and also provide remedies to symptoms like sore and dry throat conditions.
Take some turmeric paste and mix some carom seeds which have been soaked in water. Twice or thrice a day will give good results.
Soak some almonds, make a paste and add honey and consume it twice a day.
Onion juice may stink but helps cure dry throat.
Make some ginger juice, add some lemon drops and honey to make a small anti-dry cough drink.
Some teaspoons of apple cider vinegar a day reduce the inflammation in your throat.
Combining betel leaves, basil leaves and some ginger and chewing it directly will help as well.
Spices like pepper and cloves taken directly or with honey have also shown good results.
Oranges in a way help during cough, apart from giving the set of vitamins and minerals.
Green tea with lemon or honey or even both has shown great results since ages.
Mix raisins and some sugar and take it directly or post heating for fighting dry cough.
Always be hydrated, so drink a good amount of water; this helps during the cough period.
Smash grapes and add some honey; drinking this mixture helps clearing the mucus from the lungs.
Milk with turmeric powder has also shown good results.
