Stockholm Tech Week: Welcome to a world leading tech ecosystem

During the first two weeks of September, Stockholm welcomes thousands of investors, entrepreneurs, talents,  journalists and bloggers from around the globe, to discover one of the best tech ecosystems in the world. With 14 conferences and some 50+ events throughout the city, Stockholm Tech Week offers visitors to experience in an immersive way what's going to happen next in the world. Welcome to connect with the early starters and leading stars of the Stockholm tech ecosystem!

To make it easier for Stockholm Tech Week's visitors, Invest Stockholm has updated the map of the Stockholm Tech Ecosystem and launched an extensive guide for anyone who wishes to connect with the Scandinavian Capital's vibrant tech scene.

Stockholm produces the highest number of unicorns per capita in the world after Silicon Valley. The reasons for this success have been covered in numerous articles and research studies. Among the most quoted explanations are Swedes' extreme openness to new ideas, our progressive values, supportive social security system and Stockholm's strong tech ecosystem.

"It is great to see companies develop in the Stockholm region. We get to follow their journey throughout the ecosystem and know how important the local support is. But we also know that one of the success factors behind our unicorn factory, is the connectedness to the rest of the world, which is why we are so excited about the international crowd coming to Stockholm in September," says Anna Gissler, acting CEO of Stockholm Business Region.

The Stockholm ecosystem has been ranked fourth best in the world by SparkLabs Global and second best at attracting talents according to the Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2018.

"We have one of the best tech ecosystems in the world, but there is still work to be done. We see that we need to support the ecosystem in a way that more startups turn into scaleups faster. We are also in the middle of a thorough mapping of each vertical, making sure there is support for fin tech, food tech, music tech, ed tech and many more. There is a need for both very niche support and for interdisciplinary collaborations for the best innovations to happen,” says Ariane Bucquet Pousette, newly-appointed Project Manager for Start-ups at Invest Stockholm.

To make it easier for companies to establish in Stockholm, The Entrepreneur's Guide Stockholm, developed by Invest Stockholm, maps every major player of the tech ecosystem. Now, companies that want to start or grow their business in Stockholm, have a one-stop shop for everything, from financing to finding an office.
