Reading problems is characterized by a difficulty in achieving rapid and accurate word decoding, and this reveals itself in longer fixation times, shorter saccade lengths and a higher proportion of regressions than typical readers. In other words, eye movements reflect the underlying problems that people with difficulties struggle with in decoding words and understanding texts.
