Press release -
SAS outsources the operation of its aircraft maintenance system to Merit Consulting.
SAS and Merit Consulting have entered into an outsourcing agreement. Merit is taking over the operation of Infor M3, which is SAS' current system for aircraft maintenance. Concomitant with this, four SAS employees stationed in Oslo and Stockholm will be going over to Merit.
Coincidental with this agreement, Merit has also been given the responsibility of carrying out the implementation and on-going operation of Amos, a new maintenance system from Swiss Aviation Software.
"We see this as an important step in our continuing efforts to be a world leader within Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO). The fact that we have received this vote of confidence is the result of a lot of hard work and a very clear strategy. Looking forward we see this as a first step in the continued development of our newly-formed business area Merit Aviation", says Anders Thern, Merit Consulting AB's CEO.
Merit Aviation is a newly-formed business area that initially will comprise 10 or so consultants, all of whom have in-depth knowledge of maintenance and are specialists within aircraft maintenance. Smart solutions have been developed to facilitate integration with both the aircraft industry and the aviation safety authorities. To this end the company has built up proprietary applications within mobile logistics and BI solutions within the framework for Merit Portal.
"We have tremendous confidence in Merit. It is reassuring to know that we can continue our qualitative development together and at the same time find solutions that clearly reduce our costs", says Göran Bråland, Director of Technical Systems, SAS Group IT.
