Red Shield Records announces the release date of John Beltran’s ep. “Resol” for August, 30th, 2019
[Miami, FL] – [Red Shield Records] is getting ready to release their 4th release of 2019, and it comes from none other than Detroit legend, John Beltran. In his nearly 30 year career, he has crossed many genres with Jazz and Ambient, but has always stayed close to his Detroit roots. His vast catalogue of music spanning 12 albums and countless releases reads like the body of work of a legend. From R&S, Delsin, Peacefrog, Ubiquity, Apollo, Quango, and Carl Craig’s Retroactive label, you can’t pigeonhole him into what type of musician he is.
In 2003 John visited Puerto Rico, to record local percussionists and singers for his upcoming string of Releases for Ubiquity. Releases like Candela, Kissed by the Sun, that became staples in every House Dj’s bag for the following two years. Here is where the friendship with Redshield Records owners, Juan Rojas and Santiago Cevallos began.
The “Resol” ep is a return to his Sunny days in Puerto Rico, as well as to the square bassline sounds of his early releases of his Placid Angles moniker. The title track “Resol” is the definition of how John crafts his melodies to perfection. The vocal harmonies take the listener to the start of a warm sunny day on the beach as the sun glare’s from the water, creating a feeling of absolute peace.
The b side, “Resplandor” is the definition of an analog bubble bath. As the song takes flight, you hear the bassline fizzle up with a riding rim, that is unmistakably sounds like the sound he has built throughout his career. As the track builds up for a minute, you hear his 909 high hats, that ride the song into the 4 minute mark, where you hear his luscious pads that bring you back down from your cloud.
Santiago Cevallos, co-label head of Redshield Records said, “When I first started going to Raves in the mid 90’s, I was always drawn to the chill out rooms. That is where I first heard John’s “Guitaris Dream.” I automatically fell in love with John’s music. One of the first LP’s I bought when I purchased Technics was Ten Days of Blue, so to have John do this ep for us is getting to work with one of our hero’s from our teen years.”
“Resol” will be out as a digital release, on August 30th, 2019.
