Blossa 16 – a celebration of the Swedish primeval forest

You don’t have to travel too far from home to find undiscovered and thrilling flavor combinations. This year’s annual BLOSSA (2016) glögg has been inspired by the wild primeval forests of northern Sweden. Ancient and mystical and almost on our doorstep.

This year´s coordinates 63° 69´72.0”N 13°81´76.7”W bring us to Storskogen, a national park where primeval forest, ancient rivers and magical waterfalls leave you breathless with wonder. Here, far from the hustle and bustle of modern civilisation, you will find bears, wolverines and of course reindeers. As you will see it’s not only the taste that has been inspired by this ancient place, it has also been the inspiration for the bottle, which has been illustrated by Petra Börner.

Crowberries and caramelized birch sap

This year’s BLOSSA has been painstakingly created by our chief blender Åsa Orsvärn. With crowberries, caramelized birch sap, a hint of smoke and of course traditional Swedish glögg spices, Åsa has recreated “Storskogen” in a bottle.

– It is both thrilling and relevant for us to return to tastes from nature, as we have a long tradition of craftsmanship and a great respect for the origin of our ingredients. With BLOSSA 16 we like to revive the interest for ingredients in our close environment, ingredients which, for most of us, are completely unknown, says Nathalie Malledant, Regional Brand Development Manager for BLOSSA.
