Armed with his Barjansky Stradivarius cello for the past 30 years, he has performed countless pieces written by an eclectic variety of composers, ranging from Claudio Monteverdi to Arvo Pärt.
 
The latest proof of Julian Lloyd Webber’s talent is A Tale of Two Cellos (2013), a recording of 21 duets on which he is accompanied by his cello-playing wife Jiaxin Cheng.
 
Finland's Radio Classic recently had the chance to chat to the ‘doyen of British cellists’ about his latest work, his influences and the state of his favorite soccer team, Leyton Orient.
