The size of international cruise ships has gradually grown. This is apparent from the increased use of the cruise-ship wharfs in Helsinki's West Harbour. During last summer, more than 100 ships docked in the South Harbour, while in the West Harbour the number of ships calling rose above 150. At the same time, passenger numbers clearly grew in relation to the number of ship calls. The statistics, almost 330,000 passengers for the West Harbour as compared with the South Harbour's 50,000, portray the situation excellently. This growth will continue, because the cruise ships ordered by the shipping companies are larger than before .
During the summer, 18 pleasure boats called at the port.
