Arctic ecosystems and biodiversity are changing rapidly, perhaps irreversibly. This change is primarily caused by climate-driven alterations. Arctic marine biodiversity research can be used as a sound knowledge-based foundation for protection of the marine environment. Efforts to communicate research findings to non-scientific stakeholders and politicians should be strengthened.
