​Karmenu Vella, European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, to speak at Arctic Frontiers Policy 2017

We are very pleased that Karmenu Vella, European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, to speak at Arctic Frontiers Policy 2017.

Karmenu Vella served as a Maltese Parliamentarian for the Labour Party. During his time in government, Vella held the position as Minister for Public Works (1981 - 1984), Minister for Industry (1984-1987, Minister for Tourism (1996- 1998) and was again appointed as Minister of Tourism in 2013 until his nomination as EU Commissioner in 2014. 

During his professional career, Karmenu Vella has held a number of positions as an Architect and Civil Engineer in amongst others the banking, aviation and energy sectors. He has his educational background from the Royal University of Malta, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies in 1970 and as an Architect and Civil Engineer in 1973, as well as from Sheffield Hallam University where he graduated with a Master of Science degree in Tourism in 2000.

The dates for Arctic Frontiers 2017 are 22 - 27 January.
