The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Børge Brende has invited the Sergej Lavrov Foreign Minister of Russia to speak at Arctic Frontiers 2017. "It is important to invite the Russian Foreign Minister to Norway as our two countries have many common interests in the Arctic and our conference is a important arena for dialogue" states conference manager Øvretveit.

Arctic Frontiers has a long standing and good relationship with Russia and every year Russian delegates are the second largest delegation after Norway.

According to the plan Lavrov will speak at Arctic Frontiers Policy held at UiT The Arctic University of Norway on the 23 or 24 January 2017.

Arctic Frontiers runs from 22-27 January 2017 in Tromsø, Norway.
